On April 11, 1918 Willie was conscripted into the 1st Depot Battalion, Eastern Ontario Regiment, CEF, in Kingston. He stood 5 foot 3 with brown eyes and black hair and a dark complexion with a note about having slightly flat feet. His trade was listed as farmer. Fortunately, the war was to end soon and Willie was dischared on 16 June 1919 A couple of months later he ends up married to Albina Bellefeuille.
